This is how to load your Wordpress blog with the ‘Widlink’ widget that has been provided exclusively to Alex Jeffreys limited enrollment coaching program students…

step #1 login to your blog at http://yourblogsite.com/wp-admin,
p.s. for those that don’t know how to do this just call or email your web hosting service provider and they’ll show you exactly what to do…

step #2 next, scan your eyes down the left side column to where you see the tab ‘Plugins’ and click it,

step #3 the second tab below ‘Plugins’ says ‘Add New’… so click that tab,

step #4 just below the dark grey bar at the top you should see in big letters ‘Install Plugins’ and below you’ll see the second tab to the right in blue that says ‘Upload’ and click that tab,

step #5 click on the button that says ‘Browse’ and you’ll immediately notice a ‘File Upload’ window open.  Now, find where you saved the .zip file that is attached to the private Alex Jeffrey’s Coaching Students forum thread… it should be called ‘Widlink Widget 1′ or ‘Widlink Widget 1.zip’

(clue1: Its a folder with a zipper on the front)
(clue 2: if you can’t find the file then try saving it to your computer again)

step #6 when you click on this .zip file its name should fill the space to the right of ‘File name:’ in ‘File Upload’ window.

step #7 then click the button that says ‘Open’

step #8 then the ‘File Upload’ window should disappear but now you’ll see a bunch of words filling the box to the left of the ‘Browse’ button in your ‘Install Plugins’ screen. Click the ‘Install Now’ button,

———-

Now you’ve correctly installed what you need into the memory of your blog.

But the way a Wordpress blog works is you now have to bring it up to a visual level that readers can see and read.

Hence, the reason for the next few steps.

———-

step #9 you should still be logged into the http://yourblogsite.com/wp-admin area of your blog website. If not, log back in.

step #10 once in this area, scan your eyes down the left side column of the screen to find the word ‘Appearance’, and then click on it,

step #11 then click on the word that says ‘Widgets’

———-

Before telling you what next to do, you should know this is the area where you can drag and drop different elements (also called Widgets) into the columns of your blog.

Everyone’s blog is different, but suffice it to say on the right you’ll see the names of the columns eligible for you to drag widgets into…

In the case of Marcus Passey’s blog located at http://marcuspassey.com you’ll see there is one column on the left and another on the right that surrounds the main part of his blog (essentially the blog post contents).

I’m going to therefore guess the two grey headings in his and possibly your Widget area on the right are called ‘Right Heading’ and ‘Left Heading’.

For the purposes of this exercise let’s click on arrow just right of the word ‘Right Heading’ which will put the Widget in the right column… (if you complete the following)

PLEASE do not worry if you put it in the wrong place as the beauty of Wordpress is that your layout is not permanent and it can be changed every 5 minutes if you like.

Wordpress has become a sort of plug and play, drag and drop paradise… Or at least they’re trying to make it seem that way.

Here are your next steps to see the Widget in your blog…

———-

step #12 after you have clicked on ‘Right Heading’ you should see a listing of the elements/widgets that already make up the layout of your blog… I should tell you they are in order top to bottom.

step #13 in the middle of your ‘Widgets’ screen you’ll notice that there are two sections. ‘Available Widgets’ and ‘Inactive Widgets’. By now you should see an element/widget in the ‘Available Widgets’ part that is titled ‘Widlink’.

step #14 what you are going to do now is drag and drop the ‘Widlink’ widget into the column sidebar on the right… so hover your cursor over ‘Widlink’ left click it and drag it into the area below ‘Right Heading’, then take your hand off the left click and then watch the widget drop somewhere into the list under ‘Right Heading’.

you’re almost there…

step #15 Alex has given you some very cool options with this widget.  ‘Title’… Enter the name you’d like to call this group of links to AJ’s coaching students and ‘Number of Links to Show’…  enter the quantity of names/links you’d like in your blog sidebar.

step #16 don’t forget to click the blue ‘SAVE’ button… now you’re done.

If you look to the right of the blog post here on my website http://escapetoprosperity.com you’ll notice I called mine ‘Alex Jeffrey’s Fans’

step #17 to check your results, you can either type in your blog website url or click on the link above in your admin screen. At the top and inside the dark grey bar across the top you should see the button ‘Visit site’ click on it and you should be good to go.

If this information was helpful to you, a few kind words in a comment on this blog post would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Rob
