Two things struck me in a recent presentation he made.
One was the story about Donald Trump being able to come back from being billions in debt and the other a
story about how T Harv Eker sold a portion of one of his companies for a little over a million dollars after beginning it with $2,000 of borrowed money.
Although each story stands on its own merits there is a common lesson we must learn if we’re ever going to be effective in anything
we attempt to sell. Interresting stories draw people to wanting to listen to you.
Helen Keller said that “life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all”. Well she’s only partially right. What she forgot to add
is that to sell others on your cause you have to have captivating stories they are interrested in hearing you tell.
Let’s face it, for many we will earn a million dollars over the course of an entire lifetime, but make it in one year, a month or even a day
like some have done either offline or online and now you’ve got a story.
Crisis based stories create onlookers and that’s why we have CNN. Stories where people have triumphed over tradegy creates hope in others.
And finally stories about what successful people are doing creates jealousy.
If you’re going to sell anything, I believe you see which stories you should tell. Whether they’re yours or others.
So doens’t this beg the question. If you’re not going through more trial and tradegy than others how can you sell them anything
but the others guys stuff.
Sales is stories about the adventure in your life that pertain to those you are looking to sell.
Isn’t it time you started doing more than those you are trying to sell.
