is also known as (aka) uploading and activating a new theme…

If you’re about to create a WordPress Blog or maybe you just installed the software, this will show you how to make your blog look much more attractive… fast.

Have you ever noticed that almost everybody’s WordPress Blog looks unique.  That’s because they applied a custom set of look and feel files to their blogs…  And this collection of custom files are called a WordPress Blog  ‘Theme’.

Because WordPress made it easy for developers, there have been literally thousands of WordPress ‘Theme’s created in the past few years.  Many of which are absolutely free.

For the purposes of this example I’m going to show you how to install and activate one such theme.  Yes, its free and yes you can use it… as have a few of Alex Jeffreys coaching students.

Even if you don’t continue to use this theme, you’ll at least learn how to do the process any time you want to make a change.

Here are the steps necessary using Vladimir Prelovac’s theme called ‘Amazing Grace’.

———-

step #1 visit http://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/wordpress-themes and click on the blue words ‘Amazing Grace’ to the left of the words ‘lightweight, super optimized WordPress theme’,

step #2 under the picture of the theme notice the words ‘Download Amazing Grace’… you will need to click it,

step #3 next, login to your blog at http://yourblogsite.com/wp-admin,
p.s. if you don’t know how to do this just call or email your web hosting service provider and they’ll show you what to do…

step #4 now, scan your eyes down the left side column to where you see the tab ‘Appearance” and click it,

step #5 then, scroll down to the tab ‘Themes’ and click that one too,

———-

Notice the two headings called ‘Current Theme’ and ‘Available Themes’.  What we’re about to do is add a new ‘Available Theme’.

———-

step #6 go back to the left side column and click ‘Appearance’ and this time click on ‘Add New Themes’,

step #7 at the top of the page you see the words ‘Installed Themes’ and just below the word ‘Upload’ which you should click on,

step #8 now click on the button that says ‘Browse’ and you’ll immediately see that a ‘File Upload’ window will have opened,

step #9 search for the .zip file that says ‘grace_theme.zip’ that you just downloaded.  You may not see the .zip, but you should at least see a zipper on the outside of the folder,

step #10 once you click on this ‘grace_theme.zip’ file you should see that it now fills  ‘File name:’ window to the right… when you click on ‘Save’…  the ‘File Upload’ window will automatically disappear,

step #11 back at your ‘Install Themes’ page you should now see the location of your ‘grace_theme.zip’ file in the box to the left of the ‘Browse’ button,

step #12 click on the ‘Install Now’ button… Now your theme is installed.

———-

Installed but not yet visible. We must now activate it so that your WordPress Blog starts showing visitor your blog in the look and feel of the ‘Amazing Grace’ theme.

———-

step #13 go back to the left side column and click on ‘Appearance’ then on ‘Themes’,

———-

Now you should see the new ‘Amazing Grace’ theme located under the heading ‘Available Themes’.  Just below the theme you will notice the words ‘Activate | Preview | Delete’…

———-

step #14 click on  ‘Preview’ to see exactly what your blog will look like if activated,

step #15 if you’re happy with what you see in the ‘Preview’ click on ‘Activate’ and now you’re done.

———-

Remember, if you like this theme use it or find yourself a new one to upload and activate…  simple as that.

If this information was helpful to you, a few kind words in a comment on this blog post would be greatly appreciated.
