Yesterday, I hit the update button for the newest version of
internet explorer and regretted it only two minute later, because it
changed something I changed…
You see, over the last year or so, all I’ve kept hearing about is
how over the top Mozilla Firefox (FF) is… as a web browser.
As many of you know, I’m nowhere near a techie, but
I do know what I like… and that is the way FF saves user names and
passwords everytime I log into any kind of website.
Internet Explorer doesn’t hold a candle in this area.
Anyways, as I started using Firefox as my default browser, I
got more and more frustrated that every time I’d click on a link
in my email inbox it would open up the link in Internet Explorer.
Basically, I searched on the net to find if there was a solution
and there was.
Here is what to do if you use let’s say Outlook as your email client
and want your links to open in Firefox when clicked…
Now its a little bit technical by highly worth the change…. be very
careful what you do… follow the steps exactly as these guys say
or else…

hope that helps.
P.S. when they say ‘Explorer’ in step #1 they are referring to your
desktop (‘my computer’) and not ‘Internet Explorer’

Welcome to the club
I am not such big fan of internet explorer anymore since it’s been messing my site designs since a while. But the thing is it’s still being used by the majority and one has to live with it. So bit more suffering is expected.
Something I have found invaluable is XMarks. It’s a little app that syncs bookmarks and passwords. I got it primarily to keep FireFox synced between my two PCs but it also works for the rare occassions I end up in Internet Explorer.
What\’s going on, Rob?
I use to do web development before hitting the Internet Marketing space…
I have to say, we had to always code for those who used IE (Internet Explorer)…
So many people use it, simply because it comes with windows!
Glad to hear you started using Firefox! =D
Take it easy, buddy!
Gotta love the Firefox! I’ve been it since it was in beta testing (since it was called Firebird), and it’s gotten better and better. The add-ons make it particularly powerful, such as the XMarks plugin mentioned by Rod.
Why would anyone who spends any significant time online use IE?
Though FF does have a few annoying habits.
It’s been crashing on me more often since the last big upgrade (3.5?) but with the sessions manager I’m always right back where I started after a short break for technical issues.
Later–Lee
